Mike Wood is a man of large stature who casts a big shadow. And he will now be the man guiding the Kilgore High School football program and athletic department. Wood, the Bulldogs’ defensive coordinator since 1996, as well as the program’s assistant head coach, was named the new head football coach and athletic director at KHS

Congratulations to Coach

Congratulations to Coach Wood. He will do a fantastic job. He's an excellent coach, husband, father, and will have the respect of his players and coaches. I disagree with "anyonymous" (real brave how you left your name) about the girls athletics, and other sports in general. Coach Wood will do all in his power to try and build a comprehensive athletic program. He's the father of 4 and understands that parents want their own child's sport to be competitive as much as possible. Good job Kisd on the hire, and good luck to the Bulldogs.

My name is Beth Eaton and I

My name is Beth Eaton and I still stand by my comments on Kilgore's Girls Athletics

WHAT HAPPENED TO COACH CHRIS,

WHAT HAPPENED TO COACH CHRIS, WOODY?

Congratulations Coach

Congratulations Coach Woody......Lets take the program to the NEXT LEVEL!

Forget about Girls Athletic

Forget about Girls Athletic ever becoming a quality program under anyone associated with Vallery...how about they hire an assistant A.D. for just women's athletics. What happened to Title IX?? Football, unfortunately, still rules in Kilgore. Girls Athletics will always be a step-child. Just ask my daughter who did not play basketball her senior year because one of the coaches just happens to be a non-certified custodian that yells and screams at the girls the whole game. Shame on KISD for not having the courage to step out and actually try to compete with the rest of the district by hiring competent coaches who actually understand the sport they are responsible for.
