Winter sparks record number of fires, Lions told

The Gregg County-based East Texas Piney Woods chapter of the American Red Cross saw record numbers of families devastated by fire in the first part of 2010. The Longview office serves seven East Texas counties, of which Gregg County had the most singlefamily fire cases, communications director Paula Prince told the Kilgore Lions Club on Thursday.
