LAST YEAR, MUCH of the state was beset by a horrible drought. West Texas was probably in worse shape than the middle of the state, but the Hill Country certainly suffered.
EL Nino has broken the back of the drought. Some of the lakes and farm ponds in central Texas actually have water in them.
