With filing open for a week, the Kilgore city general election set for May 8 has drawn one contested race to date. Kilgore native Harry “Neil” Barr is running for Place 3 on the city council. The post is currently held by incumbent Janice Hancock, who has filed for re-election and was first elected to the post in May of 1999.
