KILGOROUND

BILL WOODALL
WE, TOO, HAVE enjoyed quite enough of winter. We remind ourselves this morning that pitchers and catchers report to spring training in about a week. +++ IF SPRING is around the corner, that must mean that somewhere a band is tuning up for the Fridays After Five concert series. AND what could be more spring-like than robins and bluebirds?

Good come back Bill but we

Good come back Bill but we all know what you were alluding too... Shame on you. More worse is you trying to cover it up! Let's get past these devisive, ugly stereotypes. Homework - write a positive article on black history! Written by a white guy who wants to just get along.

I grew up in East Texas and

I grew up in East Texas and I've known many coon hunters. Most of those were Anglo. I eat barbecue at least once a week and I'm, well... you can see the photo. I'm happy to say I made it through the 60s and 70s and have yet to smoke dope, but I know dozens and dozens of black and white people who have (and probably still do) smoke weed. Spinners -- even 27-inchers -- have become cross-cultural. And, finally, I've never been to Wild Things so I have no idea what race dominates there; one of those charged in the recent shooting is black, one is white. Certainly nothing I said was intended as racist. Bill Woodall

For the first time ever, I

For the first time ever, I was taken aback by Mr. Woodall's comments. While I agree that after hours clubs are dangerous and invite problems to a community I do not see where racist and bigoted remarks are beneficial to the matter. I am a white female and I found the column offensive. It is my understanding that the Kilgoround is written for community news of a more pleasant nature. It should not be used for as a forum for personal attack.

Bill, i normally don't

Bill, i normally don't respond to stupidity, however your remarks about "after hours clubs" crossed the little line. As an African American, i am offended that you think that we only talk about "coons and spinners" and "eat barbecue and smoke weed. I agree, something needs to be done about the wild thing but your comments crossed the line. As you probably do not know, February is black history month. Educate yourself before you wreck yourself. Spend more time covering worthy news that the majority of Kilgorites can appreciate and keep your personal prejudice comments to yourself. Steven
