      When a football program has the kind of schedule that the Kilgore College Rangers have just about every year, it’s definitely nice to have an area like East Texas from which to draw talent.

District begins Tuesday for Kilgore teams
      The final non-district game of the season, against one of the best soccer programs in East Texas, didn’t go very well for the Kilgore High School boys on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs dropped a 4-1 decision to still-unbeaten Lindale. “They finished, and we didn’t,” KHS coach Michael Bradshaw said. “It could have been a different game.”

Sabine teams win; KHS loses
      Kilgore High School’s basketball teams both lost to Henderson Tuesday, Sabine teams both defeated Elysian Fields, and the end of the regular season is coming for all four. A playoff berth is likely out of the question now for the Kilgore High School Lady Bulldogs, who lost by one point on a last-second shot to the visiting Henderson Lady Lions on Tuesday night.

      The term “crushing disappointment” would be a good way to describe the end of the Overton High School baseball season last year, a 9-7 defeat to Miles in the UIL Class 1A state championship game.

KBBA registration begins next weekend
      The time of year most Kilgore area boys anticipate is just about here. Registration for the upcoming Kilgore Boys Baseball Association (KBBA) season will be held over the course of two upcoming weekends: Feb. 12-13, and Feb. 19-20, both at the KBBA park complex on Harris Street, near R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium.
