Whiteside to be installed at chamber banquet
Whiteside will be installed at the organization’s annual membership banquet. The banquet this year is at 6:30 p.m. February 25 at First Baptist Church. A community calendar prepared and distributed earlier by the chamber shows the banquet to be Feb. 9, said Mike Coston, chamber president, but the date was changed after the calendars were printed. Dr. Paul Powell, pastor at First Baptist Church for 17 years and later dean at George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Fort Worth, will speak to the banquet. He is a former chairman of the regents at Baylor University and is president of the board of advisors for Texas Baptist Leadership. He is a director of Southside Bank and Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. Nominations for Citizen of the Year honors are being accepted at the Chamber of Commerce office. Those nominations may be mailed or delivered to the chamber at 813 N. Kilgore or emailed to Coston at mcoston@kilgorechamber.com. Tickets for the banquet are priced at $25. A table sponsorship – which includes seating for eight and sponsorship signage -- is available for $350. In addition to Whiteside, officers to be installed include Donna Beets, chairperson –elect; retired judge Alvin Khoury, vicechairperson and Vic Price, treasurer. Patty Bell is past chairperson. Directors include Jo Stewart Maxwell, Darryl Stratton, Andrew Cauthon, Darla Rutland, Sammy York, Mike Wilcox, James Able, James Wright and Dennis McFadin.
