GCSO’s top five 2009 cases

Murder took a holiday in Gregg County in 2009. As of New Year’s Eve day, there was only one homicide in the whole year - after a fight outside a bar on April 16 ended in the death of one of the men fighting - and that ended up not being prosecuted, said Chuck Willeford, chief deputy at the Gregg County Sheriff's Office.
