Lady Bulldogs lose by one

By MITCH LUCAS

The Lady Bulldogs of Kilgore High School had their three-game winning streak broken Tuesday night, but just barely.

Kilgore lost to an old friend, former head coach Patricia Nelson, on Tuesday, as Tatum escaped the visiting KHS squad 47-46.

Andrea Ashley led Kilgore with 14 points, and also had five rebounds, a steal, and three assists. Ladoris Conrod had another double-double -- she had one in the finals win of a tournament in Spring Hill over the weekend -- and this time scored 10 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, blocked a shot and grabbed four steals, as well.

Kearia Rayson, a junior, fell just one point shy of double figures. She had nine points, four rebounds, a block, two steals, and five assists.

Airren Blankenship had eight points, six rebounds, and an assist, and Laqueshia Roy had five points, a rebound and two steals. Brianna Sanders didnt score, but had four rebounds and two assists.

This weekend, the KHS varsity will compete in a tournament in Gladewater, beginning Thursday at 3 p.m. against Daingerfield. A win means Kilgore will face the winner of Troup and Union Grove at 6 p.m. Friday. A loss means Kilgore gets the Troup/ Union Grove loser at 3.
