Chanel Adams The Kilgore Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has scheduled the biennial 2009 Delta Debutante Pageant for Saturday, December 12 at 7 p.m. in the Sabine High School Auditorium. Seven Delta Debutantes will vie for the coveted title of Miss Delta Debutante 2009.

Debutantes are Chanel Adams, LaDoris Conrod, Jimesha Dennis, Allision, Lorine Hudson, Dandace Shackelford, Courtney Danielle Stansell and Kme Walton.

The pageant production will be narrated by experienced newscaster, Annissa Centers. Centers is a native East Texan and has already had an award winning career throughout the Southeastern United States. She has conducted numerous interviews inclusive of President George and Laura Bush. Centers has anchored on CNN, in Mobile, Alabama and WSB in Atlanta, Georgia. She presently anchors the evening news at KLTV, Channel 7 in Tyler.

The musical director is Darren Richardson, who is also a principal in Gladewater ISD. His musical assistant is Kevin Wynn, an Inventor for General Motors. Winn is a saxophonist. Melanie Richardson will serve as the soloist. In keeping with the season, a Christmas medley will be part of the musical renditions.

LaDoris Conrod Expressions of gratitude will be given in the opening remarks by President Barbara Pitts. Enchanting Evening of Elegance is the theme for the occasion. Precious Wafer is Pageant Coordinator and Oreba Square is the assistant coordinator.

More than 60 young people will participate in the pageant this twentieth year after its establishment in Kilgore. The classification of escorts extends form elementary to a senior at the college level. The escorts are Brian Brown Jr., Omari Dickerson, Jalyn Sanders, William Colbert, Tristan Lary, Benny Colbert, Chadwick Bornes, Hanry Wiley, Kisten Rider, Cullen Brewster, Matthew Dickey, Jerrick Massenburge, Wesley Williams, Joshua Medlock, Paul Fuller, Bradley Washington, Courtney Thomas, Chris Crosby and Steffan Taylor. The escorts will wear black tux with black, red and white accessories.

Jemeshia Dennis The Usherettes will extend greetings and welcome each and everyone. They are Ciara Clayton, Jostan Davis, Bria Hunt, Ardesia Sibley and Chamya Thompson.

The Dolls in Waiting will wish everyone a Marry Christmas attired in white formals and white shoes. They are Zakeyia Bell, Kaya Brown, Crystal Conrod, Cierra Dickerson, Jacayla Ingram, Alicia Jones, Sydney Smith, Jamaria Thomas, Brooklyn Ward and Cherrion Williams.

The Dolls will be showcased in red formals and red shoes to place emphasis on the season. They will wear red and white wrist corsages. The Delta Dolls are Ja’Nesha Brager, Lateria Brager, Destiny Clark, Jessica Colbert, Taylor Davis, Christina Floyd, Lynee Ford, Libbria Moore, Megan Pentecost, Peyton Pentecost, Nikeyia Shackelford, Va’Lisha Shephard, Amber Williams and Yasmine Wilson.

Allison Hudson The highlight of the pageant will be the presentation of the Delta Debutantes, the revealing of Miss Congeniality and the crowning ceremony. Mattie Cuba will sing “You are so Beautiful to DST.” Each debutante attired in a white formal will be given the opportunity to respond to a question prior to the recognition of runners-up and pronouncement of Miss Delta Debutante.

The 2007 debutantes will return to present gifts prior to the pronouncement.

Delta Sigma Theta sorority is a public service organization. All of the debutantes will be given scholarships upon gradation from high school. Projects within the community will be extended as a public service. Tickets priced at $5 can be obtained from the participants, members and at the door on pageant night. A souvenir book consisting of the pageant participants will be available December 12 prior to the program.

Kandace Shackelford The membership is inclusive of Mary Benson, Mattie Cuba, Lora Fortson, Dr. Joyce Fortson-Johnson, Dr. Georgia King, Ethel Palmer, Marsha Pentecost, Barbara Pitts, Delores Robertson, Johnnie Roberts, Thelma Scott, Lawrency Shiner, Oreba Square, Felecia Tyiska, Precious Wafer, Caudy Williams and Ruth Williams.

Chanel Adams is the daughter of Yvonne and Samuel Sales. She is a senior at Skyline High School in Dallas. She is on the varsity swim team, a member of the Student Senate, in the drama and theater club, and she runs cross country and track. Chanel is youth model for Clout Entertainment and a member of Cass I Modeling Agency. She is a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and plans to attend Baylor or New York University. She will be escorted by Bradley Washington, a freshman at the University of North Texas in Dallas.

Courtney Stansell LaDoris Conrod is the daughter of Barbara Conrod and Sylvester Conrod. She is a senior at Kilgore High School. At KHS, she is an officer for the Anchor Club. She is a member of the Key Club and science club. LaDoris is a basketball player and is in the Texas Scholars program. She is a member of the Fredonia Baptist Church where she sings in the Inspirational Choir. LaDoris will be escorted by Cullen Brewster, a sophomore at KHS.

Jemeshia Dennis is the daughter of Regina Benson and Jimmie Dennis. She is a member of the Drama Club at Kilgore High School. She attends Unity Tabernacle House of Faith where she participates on the praise team and sings in the choir. Jimeshia plans to attend Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi. She will be escorted by Paul Fuller, a senior at Tatum High School.

Kme Walton Allison Hudson is a junior at Hightower High School in the Houston area. She is a member of the Red Cross Association, Future Business Leaders of America and the bowling club. Allison is a member of the New St. Phillip Missionary Baptist Church in Arcola. She sings in the youth choir and is on the junior usher board. Her parents are Allen and Soror Vickie Matthews and Alton and Karen Hudson. Allison will be escorted by Joshua Medlock, a senior at West Rusk High School.

Kandace Shackelford is a junior at Kilgore High School. She is a member of the varsity volleyball team, varsity soccer team, yearbook staff, Anchor Club and prom committee. She is an All-District 1st Team performer and 2nd team all district selection. She is the daughter of Karela Hicks and Danny Shckelford. Kandace is a member of El Bethel Missionary Baptist church in Overton. She sings in the youth choir, ushers, and praise dances. She plans to attend Texas Christian University. She will be escorted by Chris Crosby, a senior at Kilgore High School.

Darren Richardson Courtney Stansell is the daughter of Shelia Stansell and the late Barron Stansell. She is a junior at Longview High School where she participates in the Lobo band. Courtney is an “A-B” student. She attends summer camps at LeTourneau University in Longview. Courtney is drummer at the Fredonia Baptist Church where she holds membership. She will be escorted by Courtney Thomas, a senior at Baylor University in Waco.

Kme Walton is a senior at Kilgore High School. At KHS her school activities include National Honor Society, Science Club and Drama Club. She is a Texas Scholar and was rated outstanding in a Capella choir. She is the daughter of Arsetta Walton and Melvin Walton. She plans to attend Stephen F. Austin State University. Kme attends New Birth Fellowship Church where she participates in the youth department and sings in the choir. She will be escorted by Steffan Taylor, a freshman at SFA.
