Refinancing bonds saves city money

Kilgore city councilmen approved parameters to refinance a couple of outstanding bond issues and in the process save at least $200,000 or more in interest payments.
Mike Byrd, senior vice president of First Southwest Company in Longview, said interest rates are low and the council could refinance its 1999 and 2003 bond issues and save up to $221,000 over the next eight years.
