The Kilgore Independent School District is among 836 statewide educational agencies certified as members of the Texas School Ready Program. Dr. Liz Jodry-Gatons, educational director for KISD, said the Pre-K program is important for the success of the student as he or she prepares to go to kindergarten.

What is the TEKS test for kindergarten? "Kindergarten students are given the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills Test (TEKS) and it is this test result that is monitored to determine how well children are prepared in Pre-K and entering kindergarten."
