Mack A. Hamilton, real name McAllen Hamilton, was born March 16, 1923, to D.D. and Roberta Hamilton in Toyah, Texas. They moved to Kilgore in 1933. Mack graduated and worked for a steel mill before entering the U.S. Army. He fought in the battle of Okinawa and received both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was discharged from the army in 1946 and worked in Houston until 1948.
