Arp escapes from West Rusk

From special reports

The West Rusk Raiders gave the No. 1- ranked and 10-0 Arp Tigers all they could handle, but Arp did escape New London with a 21-14 win.

The loss dropped West Rusk to 7-2 on the year, the only other loss having been to Garrison two weeks ago. The Raiders finished 3-2 in District 19-2A.

West Rusk will move on to the Class 2A playoffs next weekend. See the News Herald’s Game Time Weekly on Wednesday for their opponent and a preview.

West Rusk tied the game in the second quarter on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Josh Medford to Chris Johnson, but trailed at halftime when Arp’s Brian Moye threw a touchdown pass of his own to Andrew Brown. Arp led 14-7 at the break.

The Tigers scored again in the third quarter, a 13-yard run by Michael Wade. West Rusk would come right back, scoring two minutes later on a 25-yard pass from Medford to Gordon, but the Raiders could get no closer.
