Kilgore Scouts food drive to begin on Nov. 14

A tradition that has been going on in Kilgore for more then 20 years will return this month as Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts will conduct their annual food drive across the city.

Carolyn Holcombe, Cubmaster of Pack 251, said food bags will be distributed throughout Kilgore on Saturday, Nov. 14, and the bags will be picked up the following Saturday, Nov. 21.

“We are looking for non-perishable foods such as can goods or boxed pasta and the like,” said Holcombe.

Taking part in the drive are members of Boy Scout Troop 252, Cub Scout Pack 251, Cub Scout Pack 322 and the Girl Scouts.

“Just leave the food sack on your porch in plain view and the scouts will retrieve it,” said Holcombe. “If for some reason your home is missed, just call me at 903-987- 1880 and someone will come out to pick it up.”

The food will be distributed to Helping Hands of Kilgore and the Kilgore Crisis Center.
