Things get spooky at Seniors meeting

The Kilgore Senior Citizens met Oct. 28 in the Lions Building for their annual Halloween costume contest, luncheon and meeting.

Ray Drost gave the invocation and Red Fleming led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Several participated in the Halloween costume march and Dorothy Geese was named the winner. She was dressed as “Grandma” in a long, blue flowered dress with matching bonnet, a long white apron and her corncob pipe. She was given a “Witchy” prize and photographs captured the moment.

Thirty-nine members were present, with two visitors (one joined as a new member). Everyone enjoyed the barbecue meal from Kilgore Cafe.

Amy Sorrell made a motion, seconded by Audrey, to ask Kilgore Cafe cater the group’s Thanksgiving dinner and the motion passed.

The secretary and treasurer’s reports were read and approved.

The Sunshine Lady gave her report: one get well card was sent to Mary Provance. Bill Adcack is at home, and his brothers and sister-inlaw are caring for him.

Helen Fette and Dorotha Faulkner won the door prizes.

Ray Drost read three good stories, then President Audrey told a funny one.

The next meeting is Wednesday, Nov. 11, which will be the annual Thanksgiving dinner, so members are reminded to sign up and pay $2.

Harvey Rollins closed the meeting with prayer.
