2009-11-04 / News

The artwork of Texas Wax members will be on display in a free public exhibit on the Kilgore College campus.

The exhibit, “The Alchemy of Encaustic,” will be displayed in the Anne Dean Turk Fine Arts Gallery through Dec. 10.

According to the group’s Web site, Texas Wax is a “regional encaustic painting society dedicated to promoting the ancient art of painting with wax.”

According to Carolyn Fox-Hearne, KC’s gallery director, encaustic painting is mixing pigment with beeswax and resin, applied using heat.

The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For more information, call Fox-Hearne at 903-983- 8128.
