OTHER VETERAN’S DAY CEREMONIES IN KILGORE Regions Bank of Kilgore will host a Veterans Day program on Monday. Melanie Poland, personal banker, said the program will kick off at 10 a.m. with music from Kilgore High School’s choir and band, and will include a flag ceremony. Information booths will include representatives from the Texas Veterans Land Board, Texas Veterans Education Coordinator, the Texas Workforce Commission and military recruiters and other veterans’ organizations. “We really want to see lots of veterans in the audience, in uniform if they wish, so we can recognize each and every one of them,” Poland said. The bank is also planning a “Wall of Honor” to feature photos of veterans, so anyone wishing to bring in a photo for the wall may do so. Poland said refreshments and the booths will be available until approximately 2 p.m. Maude Laird Middle School students will hold their annual Veterans Day ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Jody Sanders, principal at MLMS, said all veterans are invited and should register at 9 a.m. prior to the ceremony beginning at 9:30 a.m. Sanders said the MLMS band will choir will perform. According to Sanders, Allan Barrilleaux, metal shop teacher at Kilgore HIgh School and veteran will be the speaker for the program. “The community is invited and there will be a reception to follow in the school library,” said Sanders.
