National Guard rescue teams here in case flooded rivers endanger local residents
      Because of flooding in the East Texas area, five Texas military forces high-profile vehicles are staged at the National Guard Armory in Marshall. State Rep. Tommy Merritt said the State Operations Center has activated and is deploying state resources as a result of the major storm system that moved through the area and causing additional flooding.

Don’t forget to roll back the clocks tonight
      Don’t forget to “fall back” Sunday morning and enjoy an extra hour to sleep or play this weekend. Most U.S. residents will set their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday and participate in Daylight Saving Time, but folks in Hawaii and much of Arizona, along with Puerto Rico, American Samoa and the Virgin Islands, don’t do DST.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
      Dear Editor, I just completed the Kilgore Citizens Police Academy course and want everyone to know how educational it was. Among the things we learned about were DWI laws, criminal investigations, canine dog patrol, dispatch and records, deadly force and firearms, SWAT demo and municipal court procedures, all done by our local police force.
