Bulldogs slip to J’ville in 14-4A battle
      The book that is District 14-4A’s 2009 season took another twist on Friday night when the Kilgore High School Bulldogs, who were arguably in the driver’s seat for another district championship, were asked to scoot over by the Jacksonville Indians. And while Kilgore may not be driving the playoff “car,” the Bulldogs are still firmly one of the passengers.

Raiders escape Troup, clinch playoff trip
      TROUP — The West Rusk High School Raiders don’t want to celebrate prematurely, but they can smile after an 18-7 win here over the Troup Tigers Friday night. That’s because the Raiders (7-1 overall, 3-1 in District 19-2A) clinched a Class 2A playoff berth with the victory. With the loss, Troup was eliminated from playoff contention.

Lions whip Oglesby
      LEVERETT’S CHAPEL — The final home game of the year doubled as senior night at Leverett’s Chapel, and the homestanding Lions finished the regular season with an 8-2 overall record, and 3-1 in District 15, Division II six-man, after crushing Oglesby, 57-12. The game was called with 8:15 left in the third quarter due to the 45-point mercy run in six-man football.
