Downtown set for crush of costumes
This little witch, Kimber Kittner, 3, has a Halloween good-time at the Meadowbrook Pre- School’s Fall Halloween Carnival held Saturday night. Kittner is a student at the school and is the daughter of Nick and Carly Kittner. Michelle Gregg, owner of Meadowbrook Pre-School said the funds go to the Teacher-Parent Association.
Goblins of all kinds will invade Kilgore Friday afternoon when merchants open shop for Downtown Trick-Or-Treat.
Everything is free, including costume contests, clowns, games and candy galore. Set from 3 to 5 p.m. along North Kilgore and East Main streets, the streets will be closed after 2:45 p.m. to vehicle traffic.
Last year around 2,000 kids participated and Fallon Burns, Main Street manager, said construction will not get in the way of the celebration.
Children’s costume contests will be at 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. at the tent located at the intersection of Kilgore and Main. The contest’s three age divisions are 3 years and younger, 4 to 7 and 8 to 10.
At 4 p.m. domestic pets are invited to vie for braggin’ rights in a costume contest judged by staff from North Creek Animal Hospital and Kilgore Small Animal Hospital. Dogs and cats must be leashed or in a pet carrier.
While out gathering their treats, children will be entertained by clowns with balloon art, fire and rescue vehicle tours and a "disc jockey" on the scene playing age-appropriate Halloween music. First Baptist Church will again provide games for the little ones.
