Funeral services for Carl “Cheetah” VanZandt, 49, of Kilgore will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Faith Tabernacle of God in Christ with Minister Rex Gray officiating. Burial will be in Kilgore Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Victory Funeral Services.
Carl was born Jan. 1, 1960 to Jimmy and Johnnie Mae VanZandt in Henderson. He died Oct. 24, 2009 in Tyler.
In his youth he united with and was baptized at Shell Temple Church of God in Christ. Later in life he became a member of Sweet Union Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Texas.
He attended Henderson Public Schools.
After 28 years of being apart; on July 15, 2005, he married his high school sweetheart, Casandra. To this union they accepted a son into the fold, Javarion Pereira.
His father and stepfather, Alvin Lydia both preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife and pastor, Casandra VanZandt of Kilgore; mother, Johnnie Mae Lydia of Henderson; two daughters, Joslin Miller and LaToya Miles both of Jacksonville; two sons, Carlos Miller and Javarion Pereira both of Kilgore; three sisters; five brothers; four grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 from noon; with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Victory Funeral Services.
