Kilgore Christmas Parade applications still being taken
      Applications to enter Kilgore’s 79th annual Christmas Parade are now available at the Chamber of Commerce. The parade is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, and the theme this year is “A Cowboy Christmas.” Entry fee is $25.

Hoberecht talks basketball to Kilgore Rotarians
      Brian Hoberecht, second year basketball coach at Kilgore College, was the guest speaker for the Kilgore Rotary Club on Wednesday. The Rangers are picked fourth in the conference in pre-season rankings, a placement the coach thinks is fair. “You want your program to be respected, to be highly ranked, but I think at this time that the ranking is fair,” he said.

‘Spooktacular’ workshop focuses on cemeteries, Kilgore ghosts
      The Texas Forest Trail Region, in partnership with the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce, will host a heritage tourism workshop titled “Haunted Heritage Spooktacular: A Cemetery Preservation Workshop” beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Workforce Solutions begin massive layoffs
      Officials at Workforce Solutions East Texas announced this week that 40 percent of its employees in 14 counties will be laid off following funding cuts. The program provides services and training to job seekers, with full-service centers in Tyler, Longview, Marshall and Palestine and satellite offices in other counties within its region.
