      LAIRD HILL — Last week’s homecoming at Leverett’s Chapel was bittersweet. The school’s 2009 Homecoming Queen, Jordan Corpier, got to watch a football game with 23 touchdowns and 172 points scored. Unfortunately, the homestanding Lions came out on the wrong end of the final score.

      You might have heard that No. 3 Texas defeated archrival Oklahoma last weekend, 16-13. Texas defensive end Eddie Jones, a Kilgore native and former Kilgore High School standout, had a sack in the contest, a key play in a second half full of them on defense for the Longhorns, who visit Missouri this week.
