KISD celebrates Hispanic Heritage

Kilgore ISD will sponsor the 2009 Hispanic Heritage Celebration at City Park beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19.

The entire community is invited to attend the event, which will include student performers from each campus and a food contest that will be judged by campus administrators and school board members.

The celebration highlights the importance of the Hispanic culture in this part of East Texas. KISD asks that families bring food for their family members as well as enough to share with others, along with lawn chairs or other seating. All drinks will be provided by KISD.

The optional food contest categories are: Hot Sauce (Salsa); Enchilada-Tamale-Taco (Main Course); and Desserts. The winner of each category will receive framed Texas Star posters donated by the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce. Honorable mention winners will receive certificates.
