Motorcycle accident kills local man

A Kilgore man was killed early Friday morning in a onevehicle motorcycle accident.

Anthony Martin, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred in the 1400 block of Hwy. 31 East.

Lt. Roman Roberson, KPD public information officer, said police, fire and Champion EMS personnel were called to the scene at 1:15 a.m.

“Upon arrival, police discovered a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle had left the roadway after striking a curb and began burning. The fire was extinguished by the Kilgore Fire Department,” Roberson said. “Initial investigation indicated Martin failed to negotiate a slight bend in the roadway. This may have been due to speed.”

Talyna Carlson, Gregg County justice of the peace, pronounced Martin dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were found to have been involved. The accident is being investigated by John Rowe, KPD traffic officer.
