Mary Katharin Rawls
Services for Mary Katharin Rawls, 83, of Kilgore will be two p.m., Monday, September 28, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. David S. Handley officiating. Burial will follow in Kilgore Cemetery. Mrs. Rawls died Wednesday, September 23, 2009 in Tyler, Texas.
She was born November 16, 1925 in Marshall, Texas to Harry and Matie Cain. Mary Katharin graduated from Longview High School and attended Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas. The Rawls lived in Center, Texas where they made lifelong friends. Frank’s work moved them to Kilgore in 1959. Mary Katharin was a lifelong Episcopalian. At St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kilgore she served on the Altar Guild, sang in the Choir and taught Sunday School. Mary Katharin retired as a bank teller and an attendance clerk for the Kilgore Independent School District.
Mrs. Rawls is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Barry Quick of Tyler; a son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Regina Rawls of Kilgore; a daughter-in-law, Kalynn Harrison of Kilgore; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a sister, Avis Glover of Longview, Texas; and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Wayne Rawls and her husband Frank Rawls.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Sunday afternoon between two and four p.m.
