Neil Diamond tribute band opens CCA season
Nearly Neil and the Solitary Band, featuring the talents of Bobby Bruce,
opens the 2009-10 Kilgore Community Concert season at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct.
4, in Dodson Auditorium at Kilgore College.
Admission to the concert is by season ticket. Tickets will be available at
the door. Season tickets to five concerts are $45 for adults and $10 for
children. Kilgore Community Concert Association is affiliated with Live on
Stage.
Through reciprocal agreements, those who purchase concert tickets from the
KCCA may also attend at no additional cost concerts in Tyler, Terrell,
Marshall, Livingston, Irving and Greenville.
Nearly Neil and the Solitary Band has already this season performed in
Irving, Terrell and Greenville. The group will be in Livingston on Oct. 5.
In 1994, a legendary path was set in motion when Vancouver-born Bobby Bruce
won a talent show with his incomparable impersonation of Neil Diamond. For
15 years, Bruce has never looked back, playing for thousands of fans
throughout North America, Australia, New Zealand and Asia with his dead-on
Diamond tribute.
Bruce as Nearly Neil has played for remarkable audiences, from corporate
giants to his largest audience to date < 30,000 in Calgary. He has
entertained at Toronto's Rogers Centre, on board several luxury liners at
sea in the South Pacific, and is a regular fixture at elite casinos across
the country. Earlier in his career he was featured at the Osmond Theatre in
Branson, Mo.
Other concerts to be presented by the Kilgore Community Concert Association
are: The Hunt Family Fiddlers, Tuesday, Oct. 27; Rudolf Budginas, Thursday,
Nov. 19; Canadian Tenors, Friday Jan. 29; and Daniel Rodriguez Monday, April
12. These four concerts begin at 7 p.m.
The second concert of the season also occurs in October with the Hunt Family
and Fiddlers. This is a family of fiddlers, Irish step dancers and singers
performing celtic, blue-grass, inspirational and popular tunes.
