Homecoming Friday night vs. Palestine
      GILMER — The two teams that played at Gilmer High School on Friday night combined for a 32-0 record and two state championship wins in the 2004 season, and have been two of the best programs in East Texas for the last decade, and longer than that in Kilgore’s case.

KHS opens 14-4A play with victory

      With all the rain and very few breaks in between showers, it’s difficult to believe that tennis teams from Kilgore and Jacksonville were able to complete the first District 14-4A matches of the season. But complete them they did, Tuesday afternoon in Jacksonville. And Kilgore came out on the winning end, 10-4 officially.

Big homecoming win for Sabine
      LIBERTY CITY — The Sabine Cardinals’ offensive train was idling for most of the evening Friday night, as the homecoming game against Beckville was played in the trenches, with two defenses battling it out at James Bamberg Stadium. The Cardinals downed the Beckville Bearcats 15-0 for homecoming, thanks to a couple of big defensive plays.

     FOOTBALL KHS, Gilmer split fresh, JV games Kilgore High School and Gilmer split the freshmen and junior varsity games on Thursday night here, with KHS winning the freshmen game, 20-0, and Gilmer holding off a late Kilgore comeback to win the JV contest, 34-27.

      UNION HILL — The winless streak to open the season is over for the Overton High School Mustangs after a good trip to Union Hill Friday night. Overton, coming in with an 0-3 record to start the season, swarmed Union Hill 34-0 Friday night, a week after the nearmiss against Big Sandy.
