Ila Louise Gatons Eckstadt, 81, of Kilgore, died Sept. 20, 2009, in Longview.  Memorial services will be held at a later date at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Kilgore. 

She was born Dec. 9, 1927, in Decatur, Ill., to Harry and Grace Corley Gatons. She married John Robert Eckstadt on April 8, 1946, in Chicago. She was an automotive bookkeeper for many years and retired from the Gregg County Tax and License Department in Kilgore. 
Survivors include: two daughters, Bonnie Shaw (Howard Shaw) of McKinney and Janet Boaz of Longview; one son, John Robert Eckstadt Jr. of Kilgore; six grandchildren, Sandra Woodard Mastali (Dr. Reza Mastali) of Celebration, Fla., Lisa James of McKinney, Robert James (Jennifer James) of Allen,  John Robert "Trey" Eckstadt III (Michelle Contreras) of Kilgore,  Michael Boaz of Longview, and Laura Eckstadt of Kilgore; five great-granddaughters, Arianna Mastali and Natalie Mastali of Celebration, Madison Boaz of Longview, Camryn James of Allen, and Jezlynn Eckstadt of Kilgore; several nieces and nephews in Texas, California and Washington; and many cousins in the Shelby County, Ill., area.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Luella Gatons Stenlund; and brother, Norris Gatons. 
Memorials may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church of Kilgore.  Internment will be made in the Tower Hill Cemetery, Tower Hill, Ill., at a later date with graveside services.
