JOE WINSTON SANDERS SR.

Funeral services for Joe Winston Sanders, Sr., 75, of Kilgore will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Corinth Christian Church. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Victory Funeral Services. Joe was born on May 22, 1934 to Theodore and Azzie Lee Thurmond Sanders in Kilgore, Texas. He was one of three children. He departed this life on August 31, 2009 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, Texas. He attended Fredonia Public Schools and graduated in the Fredonia High School Class of 1952. He later served in the United States Army. He united with Corinth Christian Church at an early age where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Chairman of the Board. He later became a member at the East Side Christian Church serving as an Elder and remained a member until he went home to be with the Lord. On March 12, 1959 he married Gwendolyn Geneva Becks and four children were born to this union. His parents, wife, a sister, Odessa Pentecost and a brother, Albert B. Sanders all preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Lisa Sanders and Lori Sanders both of Kilgore, two sons, Joe Sanders, Jr. of Longview, TX; and Theodore "Ted" Sanders of Texarkana, TX; seven grandchildren, one great granddaughter and other relatives. Public viewing will be Friday, September 4, 2009 from noon; with the family receiving friends 6:00 p.m. at Victory Funeral Services.
