Property tax rate decreasing

As expected, no taxpayers complained during a public hearing Tuesday night because the city's property tax rate is decreasing slightly in the coming year. Kilgore city councilmen held the first of two public hearings on their proposed budget and tax rate. The 2009-10 budget is $14,580,000, with a proposed tax rate of $.392371 per $100 valuation.
