WATERMELON FEST IS THURSDAY, SCRIMMAGE FRIDAY

2009-08-19 / Sports

The Kilgore High School Bulldogs will take a little break after practice on Thursday to eat a little watermelon and visit with fans, friends and family at the annual watermelon fest. It'll be held, as usual, by the Mitchell Field House and will begin around 7 p.m. In addition to the football team, the cheerleaders, band and Hi-Steppers will be there. Kilgore will scrimmage Mount Pleasant here on Friday night at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium, with the booster club hosting their annual hamburger supper at 5 p.m. The Ragin' Red opens the season on Friday, Aug. 28 at Carthage. Read all about Kilgore, Kilgore College, Sabine, Overton, Leverett's Chapel and West Rusk, as well as predictions for college and NFL football, in the News Herald's annual football preview, a part of the paper on Aug. 26.
