The Texas Rangers won the last two games of their midweek threegame series in Cleveland, and Kilgore's Jess Todd made an appearance in Wednesday night's game against the playoff-minded Rangers. Members of the Rangers have been practicing for the last three days, preparing for their season opener on Saturday, Aug. 29 at Fort Scott (Kan.). SOFTBALL Benefit game Aug. 22 It'll be the Guns versus Hoses Part II on Saturday, Aug. 22, a softball game between the Kilgore Police Department and the Kilgore Fire Department for a great cause. The game will be played at 6 p.m. More ... The 17th annual Kilgore Chamber of Commerce golf tournament, a sixperson scramble format, will be held here at Meadowbrook Country Club on Tuesday, Sept. 15. There will be shotgun starts that day at 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and there is an entry fee of $75 per person. More ... Members of the 9-10 year-old KBBA all-star team and coaches are proud to have gotten to represent Kilgore. The boys played their tournament in Chapel Hill, then Henderson.
