ANTON FORTSON Funeral services for Anton Fortson, 90, of Kilgore, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Bishop Robert Brown officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Kilgore Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Cunningham Funeral Home. He was born Aug. 8, 1919, to Robert Fortson Sr. and Eliza Wallace Fortson. Educated in Kilgore Public Schools, he served in the U.S. Army for five years. Mr. Fortson retired from Sabine Pipe & Supply in 1982 after many years of service. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Fortson Dudley; one son, Herbert Spencer Sr.; three brothers, Robert Fortson Jr., Julius Fortson and J.T. Fortson; two sisters, Minnie Rowe, and Bertha Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Florence Fortson; two daughters, Bobbie Ann Lawson (Rev. Ricky Lawson) and Darlene Hampton (Jessie) of Kilgore; two sisters, Lola Mae Bass and Ever Lee Henry of Kilgore; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
