Kilgore woman seriously injured in freak accident
Flight for Life crew transfer a Kilgore woman from Champion Ambul ance on Wednesday enroute to Trinity Mother Francis Hospital. An 86-year-old Kilgore woman is reported in stable condition at a Tyler hospital after her husband accidentally backed over her with their truck.
Margaret Welch was flown by helicopter to Trinity Mother Francis Hospital Wednesday. The accident occurred in the Welches' driveway on East Lantrip Street, when she was struck by a vehicle driven by her husband, Bill Welch, 90.
According to a neighbor, Neil Barr, Welch was backing his truck when he struck his wife, knocking her to the ground.
Flight for Life, the medical helicopter from Trinity Mother Francis, was called and the Kilgore Fire Department, with the assistance of the Kilgore Police Department, set
up a landing zone at R.E. St. John Stadium. At approximately 4:15 p.m. Flight for
Life landed and Welch was transferred from a Champion EMS ambulance to the helicopter for transport to the hospital. John Moore, public information director for Trinity Mother Francis, said on Thursday that Welch was in serious condition but he could not give details of her injuries.
