It appears many of Kilgore's employers already pay their workers above the federal minimum wage requirement that went into effect on Friday. The rise to $7.25 per hour is part of a three-part increase enacted by the federal government. On July 24, 2007, the federal minimum wage was raised to $5.85 per hour; on July 24, 2008, the minimum was raised to $6.
