JOHN 'TONY' HARRIS

Memorial Service with Military Honors for John "Tony" Harris, 70, of Kilgore, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009, at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with the Reverend David Hampton officiating. Mr. Harris passed away on Monday, July 13, 2009, in Kilgore.

He was born on January 17, 1939, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, to the late John Harris and Betty Smith. Mr. Harris was a retired Major in the Marines, where he served two tours in Vietnam. He received the V.N. Service Medal, Combat Action Medal, Navy Presidential Unit Citation Medal and Republic of VN Company Medal. He worked as a detective on the Louisville, Kentucky, Police Department for seven years prior to moving to Henderson, where he worked as an oilfield salesman and later worked for Fleetwood, where he retired after 15 years.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Sherri Harris of Kilgore; daughters, Angela Bradberry and husband Jonny of Kilgore and Pamela Witt of North Carolina; son, Sgt. Jon Mason of Killeen, Texas; grandchildren, Donny "D.J." White, Sarah Digilorno, Cassie and Lindsay Witt.

He is preceded in death by his special grandson, Ronny White.
