The Great Texas Balloon Race is about teamwork, the pilots could not function without the ground crews and for that part, the help of other racers. This weekend, 65 balloons took to the sky to start a three day long event with pilots coming from all over the United States to fly. One such crew is from Baton Rouge, La., (above rigt, left to right)The ground crew, Allen Rentz, Robin Dejean, Lisa Bonanno and John Wood is the pilot. John has been flying since 1990. It was a smooth flight on Friday morning, but the landings were not without a few scrapes. (Immediatlly above, left to right) one pilot got hung on a light pole, but with help from fellow balloonists on the ground, came down with a slight tear but no injuries and another pilot found some trees in his way, but again came through without a scratch, good work. The Balloon Glow last night and tonight at East Texas Regional Airport, with the race finishes Sunday morning.
