Rabys celebrate 50 years together
Glen and Louise Raby The children of Glen and Louise Raby happily announce their parents' 50th wedding anniversary.
The Rabys were married May 30, 1959, by Pastor Deckerd Anderson at Eastview Baptist Church, where they are still active members today.
The anniversary celebration began Sunday, May 31, when the couple were joined by all of their children, grandchildren and church friends for services at Eastview. An arrangement of 50 yellow roses was placed in honor of the event.
Afterwards, family members and members of the original wedding party greeted the couple at a surprise cookout at their home. After lunch, catered by the Butcher Shop, Glen and Louise participated in the traditional cutting of the wedding cake and groom's cake and wedding toast.
Guests presented poems, letters and other remembrances of the life built together by the Raby family.
The party was hosted by the couple's children, John and Kim Raby, Charles and Sandra Raby, and Glenda and Mike Moyer.
Out-of-town guests were Fred and Jan Raby of Elgin, Duke and Dorothy McDonald of Temple, David and Nan Latimer of Leander, Carol and Ray Smith of Robinson, Evelyn Cooker, of Clarksville, Barbara McFadin of Leesburg, Bruce and Sandy McFadin of Gilmer and Mark Forde of Oklahoma City, Okla.
The Rabys are both retirees of Kilgore College and now enjoy gardening and farming in Kilgore.
