Lions talk Pump Jack baseball
      It is time for the boys of summer — baseball, that is — and for the Kilgore Lions Club, Pump Jacks were on the agenda. Mike Lieberman, general manager for the East Texas Pump Jacks, talked to the Lions about the organization and what a great family value the ball games are for East Texans.

Sammy York finishes year as Rotary president
      Kilgore Rotary Club President Sammy D. York ended his year in office by presenting a Rotary DVD for club members to enjoy. This was the last meeting for York as president. This coming Tuesday night he will turn over the reins of the club to new president Jerry Camp.

Kilgore Rotary flag update
      Kilgore Rotarians have added several new flag customers to their list since a story about the club's program was published on Wednesday. However, the News Herald made one mistake in the story: The cost of the second flag to the same customer is $35 and not $30.

East Texas Council of Governments forms Citizens' Advisory Team
      East Texas Council of Governments has formed a Citizens' Advisory Team to advise staff regarding the area's position on federal and other funding, as well as to prioritize regional transportation project needs. The team will advise staff on the development of a Rural Transportation Planning Organization (RTPO).
