CLAY SHOOTING Benefit July 17-18 at Prairie Creek The 10th Anniversary Texas Bank and Trust Sporting Clay Challenge benefiting Buckner Children and Family services returns July 17-18, the longest running and most popular pre-hunting season event in the area. Five man teams are welcome to participate in the 10 shots per ten stands, plus a mulligan, at Prairie Creek Shootings Clays, north of Liberty City. The twilight shoot will be held Friday, July 17th with registration to begin at 3 p.m. and a shotgun start at 4. The big guns come out Saturday, July 18th, first shot fires at 8 am. Due to an overwhelming response in recent years, an afternoon shoot in the same format will kick off at 1 p.m. Junior-age shooters are encouraged to participate in this Saturday afternoon event. An awards luncheon is included with the registration fee. Lunch is catered by Catfish Express. Frank Chaney, event chairman, reports this year's clay shoot already has over 300 sponsored shooters and expects record donations directly impacting North East Texas families through the local Buckner programs: the School Supply Train, Summer Day Camps and the Stars after-school program, just to name a few. Buckner's foster care parents also benefit from the clay shooter's prowess and frequently participate as some of the event's 100 volunteers.
