Job fair, organized by Rep. Louie Gohmert, growing An upcoming job fair organized by an East Texas congressman has already registered 40 employers said to be seeking to fill more than 1,500 positions. In less than three weeks, U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert will hold his second East Texas Job Fair in Longview and he encourages businesses that need help to sign up. The job fair will be Monday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to noon at LeTourneau University's Solheim Arena. Gohmert said there was a great turnout at the first job fair held in Lufkin earlier this month, with almost 600 attendees and nearly 50 employers seeking to fill more than 1,200 positions. Businesses and organizations who are hiring and interested in participating may register for this free event on Gohmert's Web site, www.gohmert.house.gov. Job seekers may also visit online to see a continually updated list of attending employers. Employers registered to date are 1st Choice Personnel, AFLAC, At Home Healthcare, Beauticontrol, Career Personnel, City of Longview, City of Nacogdoches, Community Healthcore, Convergys, Dallas Police Department, Experience Works, Express Employment, First Impression, Good Shepherd Medical Center, J&L Cash Depot, Kelly Services, Kilgore College, KYTX-CBS 19, Longview Independent School District, Longview Police Department, Longview Professional Staffing. Also, Longview Regional Medical Center, The Made Rite Company, Orkin, Inc., Pre- Paid Legal Services, Inc., Primerica Financial Services, Rent-A-Center, Spherion, Stephen F. Austin State University, Suddenlink Communications, TCIM Services, Inc., Texas Highway Patrol, Texas National Guard, Turner Industries, Tyler Professional Staffing, University of Phoenix, U.S. Census Bureau and Willstaff Worldwide. Texas State Technical Colleges (TSTC) will be on site to discuss opportunities regarding job training.
