Xi Pi Mu members hold their own 'Olympics'
      The Xi Pi Mu chapter of Beta Sigma Phi recently held a social at Diann and Terry Pickard's home. Hostesses for the event were Diann Pickard, Peggy Bowne, Darlene Bingham and Gail Hargrave. Members and guests enjoyed the social hour and then dinner featuring beef and chicken fajitas with all the trimmings, provided by Boomtown Caterers.

Shaw and Holland announce engagement
      Ronny Shaw and Jane Green of Kilgore are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Robin Norris, to Jeffrey Amos Holland. Jeff is the son of Ken and Jane Holland of Lake Cherokee. Robin is the granddaughter of Ouida Green of Kilgore and L.C. Shaw of Luling, and the late Lt. Col. T. Allen and Louise Hale of Kilgore.

Beck earns degree from UT Tyler
      Daniel Eric Beck graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler on May 9 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is the son of Dwight and Cynthia Beck of Kilgore. Daniel overcame a serious motorcycle accident in March to graduate. His courage and determination is inspiring to all who know him.

Seniors enjoy 'Woodmen of the World' presentation
      The Kilgore Senior Citizens met May 27 in the Lions building. President Audrey Fulcher opened the meeting at 11:30. Ray Drost led the group in prayer and Red Fleming led the Pledge of Allegiance. Ray Drost introduced Jerry Raines, who presented an interesting and informative program about the Woodmen of the World. He has been with the Woodmen since 1992.

      Members of Kilgore's Pioneer Garden Club met in Longview at Ryan's for their end-of-the-year awards meeting. Club president Geneva Taylor and members reviewed and evaluated the year's activities and goals.

Who's New
      David and Chelsea Humphreys are proud to announce the birth of their son, Eli Pierce Humphreys. He is the couple's first child. Eli's mother is the former Chelsea Lynn Morgan of Kilgore. Born at 11:17 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2009, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, he weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces and measured 22 inches in length.

SABINE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION
     The Sabine High School Class of 2009 graduated last Saturday with a few tears and lots of smiles.
