KC history professor and historian speaks at Rotary
      For the News Herald David Stroud, Kilgore College history professor and historian, was the guest speaker for the Kilgore Rotary Club on Wednesday. Stroud talked about the "Father of the United States Navy," John Paul Jones. A legendary figure in the Revolutionary War, Jones who uttered the famous phrase, "I have not yet begun to fight!

MAKING A SPLASH
     If anyone says Principal Tamara Dean, Chandler Elementary School won't take one for the team, then they weren't at school on Thursday for Fun Day. Dean and other educators got wet, several times as students who did well on the TAKS test got to dunk their principal and other teachers as a reward. All had a good time. (left) Joan Wilson got sprayed by her class with water guns for their reward, but Wilson got a little revenge in, she spayed the class when they weren't looking.

Rusk County residents get help for feral hogs
      Rusk County Commissioner Bill Hale stopped by the Lions Club on Thursday to talk about the Feral Hog Abatement Program. Hale said the program is funded for two years and Cory Simms, Texas Wildlife Services will be heading up the program for Rusk County.

KPD investigates vandals who graffitied homes
      A can of spray paint seems pretty harmless, except when put in the hands of vandals who ravage a neighborhood. Roman Roberson, detective for the Kilgore Police Department, said on the weekend of Memorial Day persons unknown caused damage to homes, cars and city property in the form of spray painting graffiti.

      In the story on Page 3 of Wednesday's Kilgore News Herald, Sabine High School seniors, in the fourth paragraph from the end of the article, Katy Strange is called Daty Strange. As a matter of policy, the Kilgore News Herald will publish corrections of errors in fact that have been printed in the newspaper.
