Jerdy and Linda Wolverton celebrate 50 years together
      Jerdy and Linda Wolverton of Kilgore are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on June 5, 1959, in Lake Charles, La. Jerdy is retired from the Kilgore Police Department and is currently the Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace in Rusk County. Linda is retired from Guaranty Bank.

Speaker shares experiences in nation's capital
      Preceptor Omicron Chapter Beta Sigma Phi met May 12 at the home of Frances Adams. President Annette Morgan presided, calling the meeting to order and leading members in the Opening Ritual. Officers and standing committees reported on their activities. Members reported the Founder's Day Tea was a success. Annette Morgan was honored as the Preceptor of the Year.

DAR chapter installs new officers
      The Samuel Paul Dinkins Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met May 2 at Pinecrest Country Club in Longview for the annual area chapter meeting for the four chapters from Longview, Gladewater and Kilgore. The four chapters are the Captain William Young Chapter, Cherokee Trace Chapter, Aaron Burleson Chapter and the Samuel Paul Dinkins Chapter.
