The Kilgore Lions Club met on Thursday with one goal in mind: remember our nation's veterans. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4002 unit members, out of Longview, opened the Lions program by reading a poem remembering those who have given their all for their country. More ... Leslie Carrasco, unit director for the Kilgore Boys and Girls Club, was the guest speaker for the Kilgore Rotary Club on Wednesday. Carrasco talked about his days as a member of Boys and Girls Club and how it has led to a career for him. He has worked in New Mexico, Killeen, and a couple of other locations before coming to Kilgore as unit director. More ... Jacqueline Reddic Roy, right, with News Herald publisher Bill Woodall, entered the newspaper's contest aimed at identifying mature readers with email addresses. Roy, who turned 72 this week, retired from the Kilgore College library and now works at the Overton library. She said she reads the paper online or at the library and will give her free one-year subscription to her homebound neighbor. More ...
