Holloway and Thornton exchange wedding vows

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Frank Thornton (nee Amanda Colleen Holloway) Mr. and Mrs. Robert Frank Thornton (nee Amanda Colleen Holloway) Amanda Colleen Holloway and Robert Frank Thornton, both of Tyler, were united in marriage April 4, 2009, in Calvary Baptist Church in Brenham.

The bride is the daughter of William and Mary Jo Holloway, Jr., of Chappell Hill. She is the granddaughter of the late William and Claudia Holloway, Sr., of Chula Vista, Calif., and the late Cyril and Eula Graham of Beaumont.

The bridegroom is the son of Dr. Joe Frank and Mary Ellen (Walker) Thornton of Trinity, formerly of Kilgore. He is the grandson of Lois and the late Joe Bailey Thornton of Trinity and the late Charley and Augusta Leigh Hull Walker of Fredericksburg and Menard County.

The Rev. Dr. Dean Meade, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, and the Rev. Bryan Grant, singles pastor of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, officiated. Vocal music was provided by Allison Courville of Dallas and Jessalyn Ballard of Pasadena; classical guitarist was Justin Smith, cousin of Dallas; and the pianist was Carla Turner of Tyler.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a fitted satin gown, Vneck front and back, A-line skirt, short sleeves, embellished with hand-beaded seed pearls and sequins on the front and back bodice down to the flowing chapellength train, hand-beaded lace embroidered edging on the skirt; and two-tiered veil edged in pearls and crystals. The bride and her attendants carried bouquets of white lilies.

Matrons of honor were the bride's sisters, Gretchen Holloway Davis of The Woodlands and Annie Holloway Juris of Nashua, N.H. McKenna Sarver of Jasper served as flower girl.

Best man was James Tudyk of Houston, and groomsman was Walt Sansom of Katy. Ashton Tudyk of Houston served as ring bearer.

Serving as ushers were Kelly Zwinggi of Roanoke; Gregory Holloway, brother of the bride, of Brenham; Brent Hill of Plano; and Bryan Lee of Houston.

Following the exchange of vows, the parents and bride and groom signed a new family Bible.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the historic Chappell Hill Museum in Chappell Hill.

Members of the house party included Jessalyn Ballard; Allison Courville; Leah Cramer and Julie of Brenham; Jackie Gaskamp of Houston; Jodi Holloway, sister-in-law of the bride, of Brenham; Brooke Huckert of Round Rock; Candice Kocian of Brenham; Jenny Marchetti of McKinney; Brook Marvin of Cypress; Michele Mikeska of New York; Tiffany Sarver of Jasper; Sarah Scheffer of Conroe; Carla Turner of Tyler; Regina Walker, aunt of the bridegroom, and Whitney and Emily Walker, cousins of the bridegroom, of Houston; and Alexandra Wall of Dallas.

Music for the reception and dance was provided by Doc Deason of Tyler.

Parents of the bridegroom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Design II in Brenham on April 3.

Following their honeymoon, the couple is at home in Tyler.

Amanda is the Executive Director of the Christian Women's Job Corps in Tyler and an adjunct instructor of psychology at Lon Morris College. She is a graduate of Brenham High School and has an Associate of Arts degree from Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, a Bachelor of Arts degree from Centenary College in Shreveport, La., and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Tyler.

Robert is a meteorologist with NBC 56 in Tyler. He is a graduate of Spring Woods High School in Houston and has a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University and Master of Science degree from Mississippi State University.

The groom's grandmother, Lois Thornton, who will be 100 years old on June 19, attended the wedding and reception.
