Former sports editor honored

A former Kilgore News Herald sports editor received a community builders award recently in Dallas. Ted Allen, who was the sports editor here from 1952-1966 before joining the Dallas Morning News staff, was recognized by the Masonic Lodge in Duncanville for his coverage of the city's school sports teams for 40 years.
