Senate bill to restrict tuition increases

A Senate bill passed on Monday to limit tuition increases at Texas public universities. Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst said Senate Bill 1443 restricts the amount a university board may increase tuition and fees to five percent or the rate of inflation as calculated by the Consumer Price Index, whichever is less.
